Baddies of Season Four

Actors appearing in season four of Dragnet (1969-1970) in that shot after the final commercial break, but before the bright red credits rolled.

Check out our other photo sets: Season 1, Season 2, and Season 3.

  1. Suzy - Baddie no. 1 has been a villain a couple times. I just finished watching Season 4 ep. 1. Virginia Gregg does a fantastic acting job I think. I know I'm jumping the gun here a little. We are going to L.A. on Tuesday night for 6 days. Super psyched. I will keep my eyes open for Drag-netty sights. Like are the two palm trees and little sign still in front of Parker Ctr? If I pass by I will take notice. Maybe things will draw my eyes to them through familiarity. Kenny p

    1. Hi Kenny, I lost my Dad in May so things are really weird for my creative flow right now. I have made the skeletons of all of the remaining posts for the show/blog. They are waiting for me to populate with text and images. I'll get my verve back, I'm sure. I do miss working on the project every week.
Thank you for writing. I hope all is well in your world.

  3. Suzy - I am so sorry for your loss. I have lost both of my parents and I know it really shakes you up. Take your time with the project. I, along with your other regulars, will still be here. Again, my condolences. Kenny P

  5. Suzy - I thought this might be a good time to tell you what I saw (or didn't see) Dragnet-wise in L.A. I did not notice too many specific locales. Remember when Joe met the gypsies in the parking lot at the Greek Theater? I saw that. Also saw a bobcat walking across the parking lot! The Greek Theater is at the bottom of Griffith Park and there are lots of wild animals up there. Remember the intro " in LA you can get a good education, and it's free" and they show Hollywood high? Saw that. In fact we got lunch at an In-and-Out Burger across the street, and all seating was gone so we ate our burgers sitting on the wall of Hollywood High. You know the driving sequence where there is a big cathedral in the background? That's Highland Ave. We stayed at the Loews there and saw that everyday. Went to a Dodger game also. Visited Marilyn Monroes crypt at Westwood Memorial Park. You remember your comment about how there is a liquor store on every corner in LA? You were right. I never saw so many liquor stores. Was near the civic center and saw the City Hall bldg. Did not see any Etlin Realtors. Went to Universal. Was on Colonial Street which is now called Wisteria Lane. Only saw one house, with a Pennsylvania type stone work in front and three dormers which looked familiar. May be the house Bert Mustin was breaking into. Not sure. Did not see Bill's house or the Temple of the Expanded Mind. We had a great time. I'm sure I rode down a lot of the scenes in your driving sequences. But you cannot take your eyes off the road to really look. Saw Western Recorders Studio where the Beach Boys Pet Sounds was recorded. And also saw Carl Wilson's grave at Westwood. As you can see it was a very busy, and diverse, vacation. I'd love to go back there some time. That's about it. I hope to see you pick up with season four soon. Take care. Hope you are feeling better. Kenny P

Wonderful color photographs of Los Angeles in 1952.

  7. Dear Celluloid - I looked at the site you mentioned. Those pictures are really nice. And colorful. We were there in June and the water really is the same blue. Beautiful. We went swimming at Santa Monica just north of the Pier by the parking lot. And that photo of Hollywood from Mulholland Drive reminds me of the view from Griffith Park Observatory. Thanks for pointing out those pics. Kenny P

  8. Dear Suzy and Celluloid - Check out a site called Martinos Time Machine. It is operated by Alison Martino, daughter of singer Al Martino. Very 50s 60s etc Ring a Ding Ding vintage Los Angeles. You will like it. Kenny P

  9. PS - On that site I just saw a pic of Pandora's Box, a club on Sunset Blvd., which is shown on the Blue Boy episode, S.1, ep. 1, and is also shown on other episodes when Joe is lamenting the aimless time wasting of 60s youth in LA. Kenny P

  10. To all: Sorry, but that last thing I wrote was referring to a site called Martinostimemachine (that is Martino's Time Machine) which is run by singer Al Martino's daughter Alison. VERY interesting site about LA in the 50s and 60s basically. You should take a look. Kenny P

  11. This is the best website I've ever seen. You've done a great job with this. This is the only show that I can recite line for line, although it was off air 10 years before I was born. Hope to see more soon!

  12. Hi Suzy:
I just wanted to tell you how much I enjoy your blog. I'm a huge fan of all things Webb and your blow-by-blow recaps always show me stuff I missed (I know nothing about the geography of LA, for example). I'm going through your archives and having a great time.

  14. I can't wait for you to get to season four, when you can do the episode "A.I.D.: The Weekend". Friday is usually so serious, I had to rewatch it just to be sure that I didn't mishear a scene where he actually chuckles. It was so weird.
